Searching for Truth: Lenten Meditations on Science and Faith
Interactions between science and faith often center around intellectual arguments about whether or not faith can accommodate the findings of modern science. Seldom do we consider the possibility that science’s insights might offer us fruitful ground for spiritual contemplation. In this group we will follow John Polkinghorne’s Lenten Meditations on Science and Faith, a collection of daily readings for use during the season of Lent on topics ranging from truth, beauty, and creation to evolution and mathematics. John Polkinghorne is a former Cambridge Professor of Mathematical Physics and is now President of Queen’s College, Cambridge. This book is available from Amazon.com.
Each Friday we will meet to discuss the week’s readings and share our personal journeys in dealing with this challenging topic. This reading group will be facilitated by Brent Henderson, Assistant Professor of Linguistics.
